Follow in the footsteps of Robert the Bruce, king of Scotland, with this travel trail of Dumfries & Galloway, visiting places associated with the king.

The Robert the Bruce trail, created by The Bruce Trust, was opened in 2009 by HRH Prince Andrew and comprises four different routes around Dumfries & Galloway, a region with strong connections to Robert the Bruce, whose family home was in Annandale.

You can choose from an eastern, central and western trail, as well as a separate route focusing on the town of Dumfries. Each of the trails offers visitors the chance to see historic sites associated with the life of Robert the Bruce, including Caerlaverock Castle, Sweetheart Abbey, Glenluce and Whithorn.

To buy the trail booklet, visit the Bruce Trust website.

The long term of the Robert the Bruce Commemoration Trust is to create a living history centre in Dumfriesshire devoted to Robert the Bruce. The Bruce Trail is just one aspect of the Trust's work, which includes history events, a newsletter and library.
