The ten miners killed in the 1931 Bowhill Colliery disaster, one of the worst disasters in British mining history, have been remembered through a weekend of events.

Ten men who lost their lives in the Bowhill Mining Disaster eighty years ago have been commemorated through a weekend of events at Bowhill. The events began with a remembrance service at Bowhill Community Garden, followed by a service at the town's cemetery, where wreaths were laid.

The Cardenden History group held a memorial service in the community gardens on 30 October, where a plaque was laid to remember the ten men who lost their lives in the disaster. All in attendance marched to the cemetery, where a service was held to remember the men, as shown in the video below.

The Bowill Colliery disaster occured on 31 October, 1931 when ten men were trapped by an explosion and, despite the heroic attempts of rescuers, lost their lives.
