Events at the National Library of Scotland to mark the bi-centenary of the birth of Scottish explorer David Livingstone. The National Library of Scotland's major exhibition on David Livingstone runs from 14 June to 3 November 2013.

To complement the exhibition, the Library has organised two special events:

Picturing Africa: Illustrating Livingstone's Explorations (6 June, 6pm)

Join exhibition curator David McClay for an illustrated talk on the NLS's exhibition which examlines how Livingstone, with the help of artists, photographers, engravers and publishers, created some of the msot interesting and iconic images of Africa. The images, which ranged from the terror of lion attacks to the abundant wildlife of Africa, were used to make Livingstone's books bestsellers and were also reproduced in biographies and newspapers.

Toto Tales: I Knew a Man Called Livingstone (14 June, 6pm)
