The 25th anniversary of the recording of the UK's fastest ever sea level gust of wind is recalled in a new photography competition from the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses.

The Broch Storm Photography Competition recalls the recording of a 142mph wind gust at the Kinnaird Head Lighthouse on 13 February, 1989. Kinnaird Head is the home of the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, and is the site of Scotland's oldest lighthouse, installed on the headland in 1787.

Competition entrants are invited to submit a photograph which was either:

1.  Taken on the Banff and Buchan Coastline between the Rivers Deveron and Ythan.
or
2. Features a boat registered in Banff, MacDuff, Fraserburgh or Peterhead.

The winning entrant will receive free entry to the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses until 31 December, 2014 and all entrants will receive free entry to the museum until 13 February, 2014. Each of the competition entries will be displayed in a Broch Storm Exhibition at the Museum from 13 February until Easter 2014.

For full terms and conditions, visit the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses website.
