Scottish motor racing champion Jim Clark died on 7 April 1968 in Germany. ...

On 7 April 1968, Scottish Formula One racing driver Jim Clark OBE was killed in Hockenheim, Germany, whilst competing in a race. Clark was born in Fife and began his racing career in local events in the hills around his home in the Scottish Borders.

He won two Formula One World Championships (in 1963 and 1965). Clark died at the age of 32 and is buried in Chirnside, Berwickshire.
