On 2 October 1946, the passenger steamer Waverley was launched.


On this day in 1946, the paddle steamer Waverley was launched by Lady Matthews, wife of the Chairman of the London & North Eastern Railway, who had ordered the steamer. The Waverley is now the world's last seagoing paddle steamer.
