Anne Stuart married Prince George of Denmark on 28 July 1683.

Anne Stuart, the last of the Stuart monarchs, married Prince George of Denmark on 28 July 1683. Anne was the daughter of King James VII of Scotland and her reign ended the rule of the Stuart monarchs as she left no surviving children. Anne and George were wed in an arranged marriage and although their union resulted in eighteen pregnancies, only five of the children were born alive. The longest-lived of these children was the Duke of Gloucester, who died at the age of eleven in 1700, two years before Anne became queen.

After Anne's death in 1714, the crown passed to George I, a descendant of James VI of Scotland.
