Admiral Thomas Cochrane, a Royal Navy sea captain who served in the Napoleonic Wars, died on 31 October 1860.
Cochrane's later career involved service as a MP, where he campaigned for political reform and spoke out against corruption in the Navy. He was convicted in the Stock Exchange Fraud of 1814 which resulted in him losing his seat in parliament, although he was later re-elected.
