On 23 February 1310, the Declaration of the Clergy and People was issued in favour of Robert the Bruce by the Church of the Friary Minor in Dundee.

The Declaration gave support to Bruce's campaign against the English and was issued to proclaim Bruce's kingship to the General Church Council, which was gathered in France.

The Declaration was a prelude to the better-known Declaration of Arbroath of 1320, in which Scotland declared her independence and the right to defend herself against attack.
