Join the NTS and the Ochils Landscape Partnership for a chance to take part in an excavation in Dollar Glen overlooking Castle Campbell.  We will be investigating a possible hut circle and undertaking a survey of the turf banks that cross the hillside.  There will be a chance to have a go at excavation, drawing, photography and plane table and electronic survey.  Volunteers are welcome for some or all of the week (day off Wednesday).  Please bring waterproofs, gloves, boots and a packed lunch.  For more information and to book a place please send an e-mail.

Exploring Archaeological Landscapes, 23 September, 11.30am; Alloa Tower, FK10 1PP; tel: 01259 216913

The medieval towers of Alloa and Sauchie and their later successors did not always stand in splendid isolation: they were surrounded by designed landscapes and estates which included walled gardens, lodges, stables and other necessary buildings. This walk will explore the environs of each tower to consider how they evolved and to see what evidence has survived for the rest of their lands.

Participants should wear sensible footwear and bring warm, waterproof clothing and a packed lunch with them.
