Historian Lucy Worsley, Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, will present a ten-part series on Radio 4 focusing on the key encounters that shaped and influenced Queen Victoria throughout her reign. This is the first time Lucy has presented a radio programme for the network.

Historian Lucy Worsley, Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, will present a ten-part series on Radio 4 focusing on the key encounters that shaped and influenced Queen Victoria throughout her reign. This is the first time Lucy has presented a radio programme for the network.

Recorded at a variety of locations from Balmoral Castle in the Highlands, to Nice on the Côte d'Azur, the series invites listeners to explore significant moments in her life from a meeting with Florence Nightingale to the loss of her husband Prince Albert.
 
Each episode introduces a new figure of influence in the sovereign’s life, from servants behind the scenes, to global celebrities, and shares her thoughts on them as extracts from her diary are dissected by a range of historical experts.Lucy will be accompanied by experts including Priya Atwal, Shrabani Basu, Mark Bostridge, Kathryn Hughes and Philip Ziegler throughout the series to examine the importance of these encounters, which give us ten different and revelatory views of one of history's most recognisable women.
