Spotlight on the activities of Cromarty History Society.

The town of Cromarty has a rich history, from its days as a Royal Burgh in the medieval area, when the townspeople traded from a bustling port, through to the 18th century when Cromarty rivalled nearby Inverness for maritime exports, trading with Baltic ports and supplying local mills with hemp.

The Cromarty History Society aims to celebrate and promote the area’s history through a programme of talks, projects and publications. Members have produced books on Cromarty’s buildings, personalities and historic events and these are available on the society’s website.

The group’s programme of talks runs from September to April. Talks are held at Cromarty West Church Hall, 7.30pm. Entry is free to members and visitors are welcome, paying £3 entry.
Annual membership is £8 and you can join via the website.
