Blairs Museum, Blairs

This museum of Scottish Catholic heritage opens on 30 April for the 2021 season, Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are available online up to one month in advance.

Edinburgh Castle

The Honours of Scotland are on public display as the castle reopens this spring, starting on 30 April. Entry is by pre-booked ticket and you can access the booking system here.

Groam House Museum, Rosemarkie

Open weekends from 1 May, with further opening to be announced for June. The current arrangement is limited to one family group at a time - book online or at the board outside the museum.

Historic Environment Scotland sites, nationwide

Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery, Glasgow

The museum is due to reopen at weekends from 1 May. Admission is free and by pre-booked timed ticket only.

Inverness Museum & Art Gallery

Now open, with advance booking advisable but not essential. Enjoy the Meet, Make Collaborate exhibition until 19 June and if you're not able to visit, Highland Threads is available online.

National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh

Phased opening began on 26 April. The Scottish Gallery of Modern Art exhibition Ray Harryhausen: Titan of Cinema has been extended until 20 February 2022. Attractions open as of 5 May are Scottish Gallery of Modern Art and the Portrait Gallery, with phased reopening for the other attractions rolling out during May.

National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh

The library's reading rooms in Edinburgh are now open to library card holders on a pre-booked basis. You must preorder items you wish to consult during your visit.

The National Library of Scotland at Kelvin Hall is also open with revised opening hours. Visitors do not need to book or be a member of the Library. Check the reopening page for full details.

National Museum of Flight, North Berwick

See the Brick Wonders Lego exhibition at the newly-reopened museum. Entry is by timed online ticket, available to pre-book here.

The Historical Search Room will reopen on 26 April. Initial access will be given to priority users only, specifically those who require access to our records to complete funded academic research or those who require urgent access to complete PhD, post-graduate or early career research. The NTS states that 'most' of its sites are reopening over the coming weeks and visitors can check their latest updates here.

Palace of Holyrood House, Edinburgh

The palace is operating with reduced visitor capacity. Please book in advance to guarantee entry.

Open daily 10am to 5pm from 29 April. Currently open to groups of no more than six. Pre booking required here

Tarbat Discovery Centre

Open from 1 May for pre-bookings of up to six individuals from two households. Book online.

The museum reopens on 1 May, Thursdays to Mondays, 10am - 5pm. Entry is by pre-booked ticket only.
