The Canadian National Trust for Scotland Foundation has appointed its inaugural Chairman, Fife-born Bob Buchan.

The Canadian National Trust for Scotland Foundation has announced the appointment of Fife-born Bob Buchan as its inaugural Chairman. Bob was educated at Edinburgh's Heriot Watt University and has held a number of key positions within the mining industry, most notably as Founder, President and Chief Executive of Kinross Gold. He said of his appointment: 'Scotland and its people have had an undeniable influence around the world, including Canada.  As a Scots-Canadian, I feel that accepting the role of Chairman is a way to give back to Scotland, but also to encourage Canadians with Scottish ancestry to recognize the necessity of conserving and protecting Scotland’s built and natural heritage for future generations.'

Sir Kenneth Calman, Chairman of the National Trust for Scotland, said: 'We are honoured to have Bob as our Chairman of The Canadian National Trust for Scotland. When this Foundation was established, we understood that there would be a solid base of support.  With the appointment of Bob, I am confident that the relationship between Scotland and Canada will only become stronger.'
