Chelsea Flower Show triumph for Fife gardeners

A huge floral exhibit featuring a Falkland farm cart, dozens of planted wellies from St Monans in Fife and life-size figures of Bayleaf the Gardener, Dill the Dog and Parsley the Lion from children’s tv show ‘The Herbs’, is heading to Gardening Scotland after picking up the top award at The Chelsea Flower Show.

The exhibit, which celebrates fifty years of Britain in Bloom and is a collaboration between Beautiful Fife and South West in Bloom, has been awarded a gold medal and the prestigious Diamond Jubilee Award for the best floral exhibit at the Show. It remained on show until the end of Chelsea Week and then was packed onto a truck and transported to Edinburgh in time for Gardening Scotland 2014, which opens on 30 May.

Keith Jackson from Beautiful Fife said: 'We are thrilled with our Chelsea win and it will be a mammoth effort to get the entire display up to Scotland and rebuilt in just five days but we can’t wait to see it flourish again at Gardening Scotland. The team from Fife have been brilliant and I’m really proud of them but there’s still some way to go before we can put our feet up.'
