Highly Commended award for Scottish Jewish Archives Centre

The Community Archives and Heritage Group (CAHG) is part of the Archives and Records Association (UK and Ireland). Every year it gives awards to outstanding groups and projects to highlight and celebrate their work across the UK and Ireland. Awards are given in three categories:

•            Community Engagement 

•            Gathering and Preserving Heritage 

•            Wellbeing 

And one entry is also chosen as the overall winner.

29 entries were eventually whittled down to the three winners of the 2022 awards:

·       Overall winner and winner of Gathering and Preserving Heritage category: Dream Time Creative(Wakefield)

·       Wellbeing Category: Glenside Hospital Museum(Bristol)

·       Community Engagement: Remembering the Past(North Tyneside)

The judging panel also highly commended the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre, Sunny Bank Mills, Leyland Historical Society and Headford Lace.

They will also be awarding a Certificate of Special Achievement to the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre for sustained best practice.

About the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre

Founded in 1987, The Scottish Jewish Archives Centre is dedicated to preserving Scotland's Jewish heritage. Since opening, they have been collecting historic material relating to the experiences of Jewish people in Scotland over the past 200 years.

Staff at the centre document, preserve, exhibit and publish aspects of the collections and make the collections available for education, academic research, tourists and visitors of all kinds.
