A themed month at HistoryScotland.com this September explores the experiences of Scots who have made a new life overseas over the centuries, showcasing blogs, online talks and research guides.
 During a special themed month running throughout September on the History Scotland website we will explore the Scottish diaspora over the centuries, focusing on:
- the emigration experience
- new lives overseas
- how to trace ancestors both in Scotland and in the new homeland
The programme will include an exclusive online talk by Professor Murray Pittock on aspects of his new book Scotland: The Global History, published by Yale, and two other live talks: Chris Paton on the sources for compiling a global ancestral story, and Ken Nisbet on banishment & transportation.
