Webinar: The Isle of Tiree: A crossroads in early medieval Scotland, 14 May

In this expert webinar, Dr Carolyn McNamara will discuss the surviving evidence for multiple early medieval foundations on Tiree along with their associated saints, placing the island itself within the wider context of the early medieval world in Scotland and Ireland.

While the Isle of Tiree feels remote and difficult to reach in the modern period, in the 6th-10th centuries it was situated along a well-travelled seaway that ranged between the west of Scotland and the northeast of Ireland.

Dr Carolyn McNamara's research focuses heavily on turning the spotlight on early medieval religious sites which have received less attention from modern historians.
